Submissions to the Pipe Bands Australian Green Paper as part of the review of the national association’s structure close on Friday 31 May.
A Green Paper (discussion paper) was released in December following the first stages of a national conversation with members, bands, branches and divisions on college that included forums in each state, an online survey and receipt of submissions in response to the discussion paper released when the review was launched.

Perth Metro No 2 has been promoted from Grade 4 to Grade 3 following a mid-season review and recommendation from the branch grading committee.

The recommendation was considered by National Grading Committee and approved with endorsement received from National Management Committee.

The regrading takes immediate effect.

Hundreds of Australian pipers and drummers take to the circle at the 2019 European Pipe Band Championships at Bught Park, Inverness, next month.

Haileybury (Melbourne) will compete in Grade 4A while Scotch College Adelaide has entered Grade 4B for the championships on 29 June.

Knox Grammar School Sydney and Scotch College Melbourne have entered Juvenile Novice A and in Novice B, Australia will be represented by PLC Sydney, Knox No 2 and Scotch College Melbourne.

This is the largest-ever Australian contingent at the European Championship and sets the scene for a strong Australian presence again at the World Championships in Glasgow.

Pipe Bands Australia annual ballot of bands was conducted in March and last month members of national council considered all proposals that had been supported by a majority of bands voting in the ballot.

Council and national management committee also considered throughout April and May additional feedback on all proposals that included endorsement of a collective decision by branch chairman to defer a determination on proposals to amend to player registration periods and moving to places (rankings) at all contests for discussion at the 2019 biennial conference following agreement of branch chairmen.
