Band membership structure proposal out for comment
Following feedback from some bands during the membership renewal period, national management committee has reviewed the current fee structure and explored options for those smaller bands to remain members of PBA without participating in band competitions.
One proposal received and under consideration is for the establishment of a flat $250 band membership fee for those bands that fall outside the requirements for competition. It has been reported members of these band can often be registered for competition purposes with another band.
Under the proposal, such bands paying the $250 flat band membership fee would remain eligible for education and training initiatives provided within their respective branches.
Should an individual wish to compete in solo competitions, that player would be required to pay the solo player registration fee. Should an individual wish to under College examinations, that player would either pay the non-member fee or have a solo player registration.
While the proposal received by national management committee has been the subject of much discussion, it has been determined that branches be consulted prior to the making of any decision.
Branches are requested to discuss the proposal and report their comments to national management committee no later than 31 January 2017.
