National grading review report released
A review of grading of bands registered with Pipe Bands Australia has been conducted following the 2016 Australian Pipe Band Championships in accordance with the Rules of Pipe Bands Australia and following release of grading assessment criteria.
The review was undertaken by National Grading Committee in consultation with branch vice-principals and the report with any recommendations has been endorsed by national management committee.
NSW: That Sydney Thistle be regraded from Grade 3 to Grade 4 effective immediately.
VICTORIA That the review of gradings of Victorian bands be deferred to April 2017 following conclusion of that branch’s competition season that commenced during the period of review and be conducted in conjunction with the branch’s annual review.
QUEENSLAND That no regradings are required at this time.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA That no regradings are required at this time.
TASMANIA That no regradings are required at this time.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA That no regradings are required at this time.
It is recorded that Perth Metro has been elevated to Grade 3A by the RSPBA following the band winning the 2016 World Championship in Grade 3B, not altering its status as a Grade 3 band in Australia.
Branches will continue to conduct annual reviews of gradings in according with procedures of the Rules of Pipe Bands Australia at the completion of their domestic competition season.
