Centenary of Armistice - The Battle's Over
The Centenary of Armistice – 11 November 2018 – has been a moment of reflection and tribute to the end hostilities in World War One that very much defined the future of the young nation of Australia, its social fabric and indeed the journey of evolution in our pipe band movement of the past 100 years.
Pipe Bands Australia thanks all pipers and drummers who participated in The Battle’s Over commemoration that has seen us collectively honour our pipers and drummers who served in World War One and in subsequent wars and conflicts. Our Australian contribution to an international commemoration also marked the final act of remembrance in the Centenary of ANZAC during which stories have been shared, discovered and rediscovered.
The Battle’s Over continued our respect, connection and support of commemorative activities that hold a special place in the calendar of every band each year.
Pipe Bands Australia sincerely thanks you for being part of the commemoration that has further engaged our local communities and shown that pipe bands remain an important part of their social fabric.
A special certificate has been emailed to registered participants and bands for presentation to their members.
We are producing a permanent record of the Australian commemoration and would appreciate, if you have not already done so, receiving photographs or videos of your performance and copies of any media coverage in your local community. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org
