National workshop focus in 2020
Updated: Mar 30
Pipe Bands Australia will deliver a series of workshops for bands in all branches in 2020 under the leadership of College principals and branch vice-principals.
College principals are preparing the education modules in collaboration with their vice-principals and branches are requested to finalise presentation dates by 31 January for publication in a national diary on the workshops.
Themes for the workshops devised by the principals will be:
Preparing Your Musical Content (lead Principal Piping)
Jumping the Hurdles to Good Integration (lead Principal Drumming)
The band is an ensemble (lead Principal Ensemble)
Open the Book (lead Principal Rules and Administration)
D&D helping the music (lead Principal Drill and Dress)
The workshop content will be consistent for each presentation with the focus on assisting bands in their preparation for performance and competition.
The national approach will also develop skills and knowledge in all bands and an understanding of requirements for bands in competition, whether music or rules.
The series of workshops follows feedback from members and bands during the structural review process in 2018 and 2019 and will provide branches with a structured framework for the delivery of each workshop.
