The Pipe Bands Australia review panel has released its background reference paper ahead of the first series in a national conversation with members over the next three months to develop options for the future structure of the association.
The review will offer maximum opportunity for branches, divisions of college, bands and members to contribute to the discussion, the most substantial review at the association’s structure since the formation of the Australian Federation of Pipe Band Associations (now PBA) in 1960.
The panel will have three areas of engagement during the preparation of a Green Paper (options paper which will form the basis for further consultation) due for release by 31 December.
Written submissions: Now open and will be received until 31 October. Submissions are to be emailed to the panel at firstname.lastname@example.org;
An online member survey will open in September to canvas views of members of current and aspirational core activities of the association; and
Discussion forums held in each state in September and October.
Details of the survey and discussion forums will be released through branches, the Pipe Bands Australia website and facebook page and newsletters.
Members of the review panel will also be investigating structures and practices of other pipe band associations and member-based peak bodies in the arts, sport and business to be informed on contemporary and effective models.
The national conversation framework is available for download in the member section of the website
