Chandler snares Australian title

Melbourne's Josh Chandler has won the 2019 Australian Solo Piping Championships conducted in Adelaide at the weekend, hosted by Pipe Bands South Australia in conjunction with the RU Brown Society. Josh's weekend success added to achievements last year on the Scottish solo circuit. In Sunday's competition at Scotch College, he won both the MSR and Hornpipe/Jig sections. Strong entries for solo titles

The 2019 Australian Solo Piping Championships in Adelaide this weekend have attracted strong entries from across the country. Being hosted by Pipe Bands South Australian in conjunction with the RU Brown Society, the championships on Sunday will commence at 10am and continue late into the afternoon. D Grade has 29 entries, C Grade 22, B Grade 16 and A Grade 8 in the light music title - a pleasing entry for the first Australia solo championships in several decades. Pipe Bands Australia is also delighted that the RU Brown Society is once more an affiliate member of the national association, continuing to develop links with kindred organisations. New scholarship to assist Australian pipers

Pipe Bands Australia has today announced an annual scholarship to assist with education and training of young pipers jointly established with Victorian Highland Pipe Band Association with a bequest from the estate of the late Peter Cook. The fund will be jointly administered by PBA and VHPBA with annual awards totalling up to $2000 being made over at least the next 10 years. The scholarships are available to members of Pipe Bands Australia and affiliated organisations. Peter Cook tragically lost his life in a car accident just days before the 2014 Australian Pipe Band Championships. He had been secretary of Pipe Bands Victoria for more than a decade at the time of his death and had been reco
