4B Music Clarification

Music for Grade 4b and Novice Juvenile b is set down in rule B.3.01.03 and B.3.01.04 as being 4 x 2-part march music from the approved prescribed list.

The approved prescribed list for these two rules is the RSBA Prescribed Tune list – found here by clicking here.

The music principals are happy to allow bands, not in a position to compete with tunes from the list, to submit tunes outside of this list for authorisation. These bands are encouraged to work towards the list where possible. Practically, this would see bands communicating with state VP’s for such authorisation. Bands competing in an Australian Championships are required to adhere to the rule for that contest as of 2022.
