The Hawthorn Pipe Band was established in 1914 at a meeting of like minded people at the Glenferrie Hotel in Hawthorn, Melbourne. The band’s purpose is to foster Scottish pipe band music, and it has for many years performed and competed locally and throughout Australia. The band has also competed overseas. The band has a proud history as one of Australia’s top pipe bands and is currently the Victorian, Australian, and New Zealand pipe band Grade 2 Champions. The band is made up of 48 pipers and drummers who strive to be the best we can.
Our mission is to create and maintain a world class pipe band in Melbourne, Australia and in doing so keep top talent playing in Australian bands and give young talented pipers and drummers a band to aspire towards.
