The Watsonia RSL Pipes and Drums was formed in 1991 by a group of experienced players. Since that time the Band has made a name for itself as one of the most successful pipe bands in Victoria during the 90s and 2000s. After taking a large break from competing the Band re-entered the competition circle in 2016 and has not looked back. In 2022, the Band won the 4B Victorian Championship and 1st place in 4B grade at the Ballarat Grammar Contest.
With Pipe Major Ian Gray at the helm and Drum Sgt Jack Still the Band is dedicated to encouraging and maintaining the craft of playing the bagpipes and the drums. In addition to competition performances, the Band regularly plays at social events and functions. The Band welcomes Pipers and Drummers of any level coming down and joining.
