Online membership reference group established
A three-member reference group has been formed as part of the process by Pipe Bands Australia to develop a robust online membership system.
The reference group will be responsible for testing and checking the integrity of the new system, its functionality and reliability, capacity, assisting the developers in finding solutions to challenges unique to the requirements of Pipe Bands Australia, bands and members.
Members appointed to the reference group are:
Shaun Minne, a systems administrator employed in the design, build, and maintenance of server infrastructure including both hardware and software at a private school
Phil Weber, who has extensive experience in the business use of Microsoft Access, the current base program of membership data management for Pipe Bands Australia; and
Pete Felton, also with business experience and in the management of online databases.
Under the group’s terms of reference, they will consult with the Pipe Bands Australia registrar on requirements and use of the existing database and ensure that relevant PBA Rules and Regulations are be accommodated within the new model.
Additionally, the reference group will seek input from national management committee and national council as required together with providing feedback to the online database developers and reporting to national management committee.
The appointment of an reference group external will enable “fresh eyes” to evaluate progress in the exciting process of bringing PBA membership management into the 21st century.
National management has also expanded the concept brief for online membership platform to include the possible introduction of online college examination and enrolment and contest entry options.
