Expression of interest call for ensemble principal
National council of Pipe Bands Australia has determined to create a division of ensemble within the Australian Pipe Band College and headed by a Principal of Ensemble, an interim appointment until formalisation of relevant rules and regulations of Pipe Bands Australia and college.
The objectives of college include:
To encourage interested persons to take a broader and deeper interest in ensemble, piping, drumming and dress and drill and provide tuition
To establish and maintain appropriate standards for examination in proficiency in ensemble
To prepare and issue material in furtherance of these objects for the guidance of instructors, adjudicators and all interested persons
To provide expert advice to the association, its branches and members
The new (interim) Principal Ensemble will assume the oversight of ensemble education, training for prospective adjudicators and the education of bands in the discipline from the Principals Piping and Drumming who have guided the introduction of ensemble as a discipline over the past 12 years.
Specifically, the (interim) Principal Ensemble will be responsible for:
Raising understanding and awareness of ensemble by providing training and information to ensemble-accredited adjudicators and bands through workshops and training days and courses within the Australian Pipe Band College
Promoting the objectives of ensemble adjudication and performance in accordance with international standards
Work in conjunction with Principals Piping and Drumming on all matters pertaining to pipe band music education, training and certification in accordance with prescribed processes
Develop structures where approved within branches of Pipe Bands Australia and liaise with those branches to support professional and effective support for the objectives of the Australian Pipe Band College and the agreed outcomes as determined by the national council and national management committee of Pipe Bands Australia.
Participate as a member of the National Grading Committee and the National Adjudication Committee
To carry out other tasks as from time to time directed
Expressions of interest are now invited from suitably qualified and ensemble-accredited adjudicators for the role of (interim) Principal Ensemble. Expressions of interest close with the secretary email@example.com on 31 October following which national management committee will seek recommendations from the music principals and all ensemble-accredited adjudicators before making an appointment.
