Membership renewals issued for 2018-2019
Band secretaries and solo members of Pipe Bands Australia have this week been sent membership renewal notices for the 2018-2019 year.
National management committee has voted to maintain membership fees at the existing level for both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 years to ensure bands and members have confidence in their ability to budget beyond a current year and, in fact, fees have been held at the same level since 2016.
In 2018, Pipe Bands Australia welcomed three new member bands including one that has never been a member of Pipe Bands Australia and one that had not been active in the association for more than 20 years.
During the registration year, a new registrar was appointed - Nicholas Train has been most ably assisted by Phil Weber in recent months updating records and ensuring the integrity of the Pipe Bands Australia registration database. They have met the tasks with enthusiasm and professionalism and ensuring that information is ready to migrate to the new online membership platform that is about to go into development.
Pipe Bands Australia is also pleased to have increasing numbers of our bands preparing each year for travel to Scotland to participate in the World Pipe Band Championships and other competitions. Bands are reminded of the PBA-RSPBA Supplemental Roster Form that is available for download on our website and is to be submitted to both associations for checking of registrations.
Following the 2017 Ballot of Bands, the Contest Regulations were updated and include the provision for dual-registered players – pipers and drummers playing with higher graded bands. Again, a special form is required for use by bands and is available for download from our website with bands reminded that dual-registration approval is required from the branch with notification to the registrar and national secretary.
