Two new Grade 2 bands in Australia

Emmanuel College Highlanders and Perth Metro No 1 have been promoted to Grade 2 following the biennial grading review conducted by Pipe Bands Australia.

National grading committee considered performances of the bands at branch competitions and in championships over the past two years in making its decisions that were this week endorsed by national management committee.

Emmanuel College was the highest placed Australian band in Grade 3 at the Australian championships in April while Perth Metro No 1 was third in the Grade 3A final of the World Championships in Glasgow last month. National grading committee considered the demonstrated skill and performance improvement of both bands to be worthy of promotion.

Pipe Bands Australia congratulates to the two new Grade 2 bands. Australia now has seven bands in the grade.

National grading committee allocation of juvenile grades was announced earlier this month while the other regrading from the review sees Federation University Ballarat move from Grade 3 to Grade 4.

As part of the biennial review, branch grading committees were again invited to assist and contribute to the process.
