Cameron Lawson - World Champion
Pipe Bands Australia congratulates Cameron Lawson who overnight won the World Juvenile Solo Drumming Championship in Glasgow.
The former Brisbane Boys' College student this year commenced studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland ion Glasgow and is playing with Shotts and Dykehead band.
Cameron's drumming continues to take him around the world and on a journey of musical achievement.
Another Australian, Monte Stamm, a student at New Zealand's St Andrew's College was third in his section of the championships.
Reigning Australian Solo Drumming Champion Steve Shedden competed in the semi-finals of the Worlds just a week after retaining his title while fellow Australians Damon Wright qualified for the final in the age group and Lachlan Coe was sixth in his section. Also competing in the International Solo Tenor Drumming event was current Australian A Grade champion Indyanna Bridgman.
