ANZAC DAY: PIPERS PREPARING WITH AMAZING GRACE

Pipers across Australia are preparing to continue more than a century of tradition by performing on ANZAC Day this Saturday.

From their front yards, hundreds of pipers are expected to play Amazing Grace at 11am as a tribute to those who have served Australia in conflict and peace.

With the cancellation of ANZAC commemorations and marches due to coronavirus restrictions, our pipers are among many musicians in communities who will be honouring the ANZAC spirit in a new way this year and the amazing work of frontline health workers today in the battle against the pandemic.

Pipe Bands Australia has already had many pipers in capital cities, metropolitan and country areas register for the tribute - "on duty" as always.

In Penola, South Australia, pipers in the town have received regional media coverage while Ringwood RSL Pipe Band members in Melbourne have been raising awareness of their involvement on metropolitan radio.

Young pipers from school bands in Queensland, NSW and Victoria are also following in the steps of previous generations on ANZAC Day. Melbourne's PLC will be coming together as a band online for its ANZAC performance tribute.

Pipers can register their participation by completing our online form at http://www.pipebandsaustralia.com.au/events

Participants are asked to send in photographs of their ANZAC Day performances this year for inclusion on new Pipe Bands Australia online gallery Our Heritage of Supporting Veterans that features photos and newspaper clipping of pipe bands on ANZAC Day over more than a century.
